nWo takes top 3 at GC6

Today the playoffs stage of Giant Cup 6 was played.
Giant Cup is the biggest solo tournament online for Trackmania Nations, and the sixth edition saw 256 players register within three days of registrations being opened.
Last year, Giant Cup 5 had a similar success, with 256 players registering in a short amount of time. nWo had great results in GC5, with Frostbeule taking the title of champion for a second year in a row, and Sandder taking 2nd place, 1 point ahead of Ddie in 3rd, and Tannis came 6th.
The tournament was split into two qualifying stages, with 128 players in Tournament A playing on the 3rd of May, and 128 players in Tournament B playing on the 11th of May.
Each tournament saw 16 players proceed to the playoffs, and among the 32 players were three nWo players:  Frostbeule,  Sandder, and  Tannis.
All 32 players who qualified for the playoffs were high caliber competitors, and the competition was guaranteed to be intense.
The playoffs started this morning with a Time Attack session, spread over two maps to determine the seedings, which ended with nWo taking the top 3 positions:
1st. nWo|Frostbeule with a total time of 1:39.67
2nd. nWo|Sandder with a total time of 1:39.92
3rd. nWo|Tannis with a total time of 1:40.07

A really impressive start to the day by our drivers, leading onto the next stage, which would be double elimination 1v1v1v1, played over 3 maps each with a point limit of 41, with the 2 best of each group proceeding to the next stage, and the last 2 dropping into the loser bracket.
Frostbeule, Sandder and Tannis all reached the Winner Bracket final stage without much problems, where they would face Ned.
Only two players could make it to the grand final unfortunately, and after three maps, Frostbeule came 1st with 111 points, Tannis 2nd with 97 points, Ned 3rd with 93 points, and Sandder 4th with 87 points.
Therefore Frostbeule and Tannis advanced to the Grand Final where they would receive an additional 10 points bonus for not having lost a match.
Sandder thus dropped to the Loser Bracket final together with Ned, where they would face Hardkore and Bergie.
The first map was mainly a close match between Sandder and Hardkore, seeing Sandder come 1st by a few points. On the second map, Sandder dominated, increasing his lead even further, with Hardkore solidifying his 2nd place.
In the third map, all 4 players were very close, and Sandder finished 2nd behind Hardkore. Therefore Sandder won the LB final with 131 points, and went through to the Grand Final together with Hardkore who came second with 99 points.
The Grand Final was thus set, with Frostbeule, Sandder, Tannis and Hardkore all fighting for the top spot.
Needless to say, it was an exciting match to watch, with all four players showing incredible talent. There was much room for speculation on who would win even in the last rounds of the final map.

Congratulations to Frostbeule for being a triple champion (GC4, GC5, GC6), and congratulations to Sandder and Tannis for a brilliant 2nd and 3rd place. We are all proud of this achievement.
Also congratulations to Hardkore for a well earned 4th place. He showed his strength in this tournament, and we look forward to seeing more of this player in the future.
