nWo oWns the weekend

This weekend two of our players,  Tannis and  Frostbeule, took part in Trackmania Nations competitions where they came fully prepared, and achieved the best possible results.
Nations Silver Online is an official ESWC online competition for French players, which has ESWC Qualifier points up for grabs.
French players gain points for performing well primarily at LANs, and NSO during the ESWC season, and the top 16 French players according to their total points get to attend the ESWC France qualifier on the 5th of July.
NSO2 took place on Saturday, and Tannis took part aiming for the top spot which would gain him 30 ESWC points.
His main opposition came in the form of Dignitas\\Selrahc, W1|Rapt, and Redline.Chapo among others.
In the Time Attack seedings stage, Tannis took 2nd place behind Selrahc, with Rapt behind him in 3rd.
Onto the double elimination bracket, these matches were played in official ESWC format: 1vs1vs1vs1, over 3 maps, each with a point limit of 40.
Tannis had no problem advancing through these stages and arriving at the Winner Bracket final, where he would face Selrahc, Rapt, and Paf-Cekator.
After the 3 rounds were played, Tannis had the overall lead, 2 points ahead of Selrahc. Both players thus moved to the Grand Final, where they would meet the 2 winners of the lower bracket final.
At the end of the day, Rapt and Cekator won the LB final, and the Grand Final would thus contain the same 4 players from the WB final.
Tannis had some troubles on the first map, ESWC 02-05, however he came back strong on the next two maps, ESWC 02-02 and ESWC 02-08, and took the overall win.
The overall results in the Grand Final are:
1st. nWo|Tannis with 112 points
2nd. Dignitas\\Selrahc with 109 points
3rd. W1|Rapt with 94 points
4th. Paf-Cekator with 64 points

Tannis now has 122 ESWC points overall, however he is looking to increase that number this weekend where he will be attending Gamers Assembly LAN in France.
XL Party is a well known LAN organizer, which holds successful LANs in Portugal every few months.
This weekend was XL Party Loures 2008, which yet again had a tournament running for Trackmania Nations.
This time around the prizes were much smaller than the previous editions, however our Swedish player Frostbeule decided to attend this LAN in order to build up his LAN experience before ESWC.
Frostbeule is well known in the Trackmania Nations community as one of the very best, if not the best player today.
His victories in GC4, GC5, the Gamesports Cups, xG Cups and more cement that fact, however he still lacked the LAN experience required to compete at his best at ESWC, and therefore decided to attend his first LAN in Portugal, where he would meet highly experienced opposition in the form of  Dignitas\\Moriah,  ouN|SiS, and ouN|Dongian
Frostbeule arrived in Portugal on Thursday, and had time to enjoy the country until Saturday, when the competition began.
The first phase was a Time Attack seeding round, where Frostbeule set a world record time of 56.93 seconds, and thus seeded first ahead of Moriah who had a time of 57.21 seconds.
Then came the double elimination 1v1 stage, which saw competitors playing for a best of 3 maps.
Frostbeule defeated Pepe in the first round with a score of 2-0, and Dongian in the second round with a score of 2-0.
Frostbeule thus advanced to the final stage together with Moriah, which would be played over 5 maps in 1vs1vs1vs1 format, up to 51 points per map.
Dongian and SiS both came through the Loser Bracket to face Frostbeule and Moriah in the final stage, however due to Frostbeule and Moriah not having lost a round, they were both awarded a 10 point advantage.
The final stage began on Sunday at 1pm CET, and it was clear that Frostbeule did not lose his edge over the weekend, but rather performed very well until the last round of the final was played.
Overall Frostbeule took the win with an impressive performance, winning all 5 maps, and wins a graphics card, LCD Monitor, and more.
The overall results in the Grand Final are:
1st. nWo|Frostbeule with 291 points
2nd. Dignitas\\Moriah with 220 points
3rd. ouN|SiS with 155 points
4th. ouN|Dongian with 132 points
Frostbeule has shown that he can perform at his best in a LAN environment just as he does online, and now Frostbeule is looking forward to ESWC 2008, where he is a top contender to win.
We are very proud of Tannis and Frostbeule for their impressive victories, and wish Tannis all the best this weekend at Gamers Assembly.
